Final approval given Thursday for a motion by Director Terry Schafer to ask the provincial government for tenure on two strips of land – Hike and Bike trail near the Okanagan River. (McAlpine Bridge to Road 22) and the KVR trail from Road 22 to Vaseux Lake.
No hitch on that. RDOS Community Services Manager Mark Woods told the board he sees the wisdom of the motion but asserts that the best plan would be extend the existing path from Willow Beach/Osoyoos to Road 18 which is adjacent to the River. Those comments seem helpful concerning a recent protest from local farmers saying a hike and bike path from Road 18 to Road 6 would not be good.
Exactly what will happen is still a long way off but the RDOS directors have given overall direction to develop the trail system in the South Okanagan.

Consent by the board to go ahead with the assent process in Willowbrook on the acquisition of a private water system. The owner wants to relinquish control of the system installed many years ago by Terry Johnson. If the electors within the water system do not object – no referendum will be held and the deal will be struck.
