Electricity rates are going up in the Okanagan.

FortisBC announced today it will raise rates 2.96 per cent, effective Jan. 1.

Fortis says the rate increases are due to ongoing infrastructure investments to improve reliability of its system.

The rate increases works out to an increase of $3.81 per month for the average residential customer, according to Fortis.
