Box Cutter Attack on Pizza Delivery Man (Penticton file 2015-18216)
On December 14th, 2015 shortly before midnight, the Penticton RCMP received a report of a 35 year old male at the Penticton Regional Hospital Emergency room with substantial injuries to his hands and face. The investigation determined that this male was delivering a pizza order to a residence on Westminster Ave West in Penticton when he was attacked by the 27 year old customer who was armed with a box cutter.
The injured male was able to drive himself to the hospital to seek assistance for his injuries. Police attended to the residence and arrested the male suspect. He will be brought before a Judiciary Justice of the Peace later today and it will be requested that he be held to appear in Penticton Provincial court on Wednesday.
Penticton RCMP have executed a search warrant on the residence and are currently gathering evidence in this case. The local detachment has utilized the Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification Section and the General Investigation Section members, as this crime is currently a priority.
Superintendent Kevin HEWCO of the Penticton RCMP reports: “This is an isolated incident where the lone occupant of the residence attacked a delivery person late at night. Penticton residents should know that the Police are working diligently on this case to ensure that it is not repeated”
The male victim has since been released from hospital after receiving stitches. There is no evidence to suggest that the suspect and victim knew each other prior to this encounter.
