The Al Lwisi family landed in the Okanagan last nite and welcomed by the local committee that has been busy for months making preparations for the family. The Al Lwisis, have lived in a refugee tent camp in Beirut for at least two years.
A group of at least 30 well wishers showed up at Penticton airport at midnight to welcome the Al Lwisi family to Canada, and to Oliver. Surrounding the balloon are mother Nesreen, son Yazan and father Mohammad. The two daughters, Ghasal and Manessa, were swept up in many of the arms of the people there. All were pretty tired after travelling for most of the past 24 hours.
Welcome to the Al Lwisi family! We hope you enjoy your new life in our country.
