Part 2 Hydration:
Rest & recovery are critical components of any successful training program. Rest is time spent sleeping & time that you are not training. Recovery can be referred to as repair. A whole body/mind repair. Overall wellness. Sleep, water, nutrition & posture are at the top of the list.
As we all know, water is necessary for life, without water, humans can last only a few days. Water intake is essential for our health, strength, weight, recovery, performance & functioning. Water affects physical performance, cognitive performance, gastrointestinal function, kidney function, heart function. Being dehydrated can be linked to delirium, headaches, skin conditions, chronic disease among other serious issues.
Water is the most important nutrient we can consume.
Research shows that so much is yet unknown how water has such an impact to the fullest extent on us but it is known that our lives depend on it & we can have an increased quality of health by staying well hydrated.
The simple way to know if you’re water intake is enough or not is by the color of your pee. Clear to pale yellow means you are hydrated. The darker the color means you need to drink more.
Water is the best way to hydrate.
Sports drinks are only needed for strenuous training.
Sugary & flavored drinks should be avoided, instead add lemon or other fruit to your water if you need flavoring.
Is your health & well being important enough to you for you to discipline yourself to make sure you drink enough water every day in order to feel better? Now is a good time to get started. If you are feeling blah… drink water & prove to yourself that it does make you feel better. Staying hydrated is the most important part of our recovery, even more so if you are a very active person.
