Apex Mtn. Resort had previously planned to open Dec. 5, but conditions have allowed the hill to to open earlier.

“We had a significant snowfall, roughly 100 centimetres of snow that fell in quite a short period,” said general manager James Shalman. “And the snow that fell was perfect for early season operating conditions.”

The Triple chair, Magic carpet and T-bar lifts will be running from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“Basically everything will be up and running,” said Shalman.

The ski area will be running seven days a week starting Saturday, with discounted lift tickets until Dec. 5.
