There’s no better time to get rid of excess ‘stuff’ around your house than pre-holidays. This year, you can de-clutter AND support a great program for Tuc-El-Nuit school students at the same time!
For the past three years, an amazing program called MindUP has been presented to Tuc-El-Nuit students by Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Okanagan. MindUP is brain and heart focused program presented to every class at Tuc-El-Nuit school. MindUP works to help students develop empathy, self-awareness and self-regulation, which in turn support brain function, personal success, friendships and resiliency. The 15 lessons focus the mind, sharpen the senses, and introduce concepts like perspective, choosing optimism, expressing gratitude, and performing acts of kindness. Sound cool? It is! The kids love the role-play activities, hands-learning opportunities, and highly engaging presentation style. Teachers love developing new tools and ideas to support students’ mindful engagement
MindUP is fully funded and presented by the Okanagan chapter of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. That said, it is a really expensive program for Big Brothers and Big Sisters to support. Therefore, Tuc-El-Nuit needs to help earn dollars to keep MindUP running.
How can you help keep MindUP in Tuc-El-Nuit? So glad you asked! It’s easy! From Tuesday to Friday this week, a giant trailer will be parked in the Tuc-El-Nuit parking lot. We need to Fill it up for MindUP with donations of:
•Clothing
•Household goods (towels, blankets, kitchen items, etc)
•Toys and books
•Etc!
Big Brothers and Big Sisters cannot accept furniture or food, but most other things are great! Big Brothers and Big Sisters will sell these donations by the pound, with proceeds going to support MindUP’s continued operation at Tuc-El-Nuit School, as well as the operation of other fantastic Big Brothers and Big Sisters programs. Please bring your donations to Tuc-El-Nuit school anytime between now and Friday.]
