Directors at the Regional District commenced a two day retreat in their own offices today – first day a budget look over and a second day Thursday – on how legislation affects the organization.
CAO Bill Newell started the day off saying how important and different Regional District governance and budgets are in comparison to a municipalities. Then he passed the “mike” to RDOS CFO Sandy Croteau who will lead the discussion for at least four hours today.
Town of Oliver residents will likely pay about $31 more because of weight room improvements at the Oliver Community Hall. The requisition pegged at 1.184 million dollars in direct service or shared services (Town of Oliver and Area C funding). Area C tax requisition is $1.478 million up nearly $70 thousand.
Town of Osoyoos residents do not have as many joint service agreements. The tax requisition there will be $736,375 up about $4000 over the current year. Area A tax requisition is $772,000 up slightly.
District of Summerland will pay about a half million dollars to the RDOS for services down slightly.
City of Penticton will pay $1.5 million – the largest share of all services in the region. The figure is actually down about $25 thousand over the current year.
