Increases in water and sewer utility rates will be kept to less than 2% in Oliver.
Town of Oliver council voted Monday to increase water rates by 1.5%.
Built into the decision is a delay in billing for farmers with a separate invoice going out after August 15th. There was some confusion in billing in 2015 and this decision might fix the problem. The rates were approved unanimously as required by law.
Sewer rates will remain low with an increase of 1.25%. This rise amounts to an average of $4.10 per parcel.
The water and sewer budgets are large and revenue is gathered by rates (not taxes charged).
A general budget for the Town (roads, administration etc) will be discussed and approved early in 2016.
