RCMP have arrested two suspects in connection to an attempted car jacking which occurred mid morning in the Merritt area.
At 1030 am on November 25 2015 Merritt RCMP responded to a complaint of an attempted carjacking on the Lindley Ck Rd.
A male victim had picked up two stranded motorists on highway 97C who had asked for a ride to Merritt.
Once in Merritt the suspects had the good Samaritan drive them to a remote location and attempted to carjack his vehicle at gunpoint. After a brief struggle the suspects took off on foot towards Merritt. RCMP and the helicopter were able to track the suspects to a nearby ranch and determined that the suspects had taken a cab to a local hotel.
RCMP arrested one female suspect outside the hotel before noon and the hotel itself remained barricaded until the Emergency Response team arrived at 4:30 p.m. On entrance to the hotel the male suspect was taken into custody.
The investigation is still ongoing.
