Routine:
You say you’ve been sedentary for a few years but are now committed to making regular exercise a part of your routine… YAY for you!
It won’t take long to start feeling & looking better. But becoming fit in only a few weeks won’t happen. This is one reason why people quit too easily. They expect to see huge changes too quickly. The I want it all & I want it now mentality.
Your patience & effort will pay off if you stick to a regular exercise routine.
Preparing meals, personal hygiene, taking meds/blood pressure/sugar readings, going to the lab etc. all play an important role in our health care plan. We must include exercise as part of our health care plan. Our bodies were made to move! If you have a condition that can be improved or even reversed through regular exercise, don’t regret not getting started.. What better medical plan could there possibly be?
There are going to be barriers. We must choose to break through those barriers rather than allow them to make us quit. A negative attitude or expecting perfection (wanting all now) is a barrier. Lets use this as a reason to focus on how regular exercise will make us feel rather than how we want to look. This is a lifestyle change, not a temporary fix.
Start your exercise program with anything that you enjoy doing so you will do it! Then make it a part of your regular routine. Gradually increase either the amount of days you spend doing that activity or the amount of time or the intensity of the activity.
A regular exercise routine will leave you feeling as though you want to keep doing it because you know it makes you feel better.
Reminder: set out your exercise clothes & runners so you get into them first thing in the morning.
Routine: get into action/movement/exercise
Reward: feeling better
