
RCMP discovered 160 pounds of marijuana in one of the semi-trucks involved in a fatal crash Tuesday morning.
“Through the course of the investigation, a large quantity of marijuana was located in the tractor-trailer power unit,” says Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky. “The marijuana was seized, and the matter is still under investigation.”
Police says that quantity of drugs was being transported east through the Revelstoke area, on the Trans-Canada Highway, when the crash happened.
Highway 1 remains closed between Revelstoke and Golden due to the fatal crash.
The estimated time of opening for eastbound traffic from Revelstoke is now 4:30 p.m., while the estimated time of opening for westbound traffic from Golden is 5:30 p.m.
