I met today with MLA Linda Larson and gave to her the results of a Facebook petition organized by former SOHS student Ted Hopkins. Also in the package was as many historical documents that talk to the proper name for the creek and the settlement area.
It is confusing so this initial step by the MLA will seek to find out how a name can be changed in a formal way and she will report back on her inquiries.
Many people don’t care and many people care a lot and want the issue addressed.
In 1932, one civil servant recommended the name Testalinden and it was placed on official mapping but never used in public for over 80 years until the debris torrent of 2010.
The school that many attended was the TESTALINDA Creek school as well as the settlement there and according to one source the area had a Post Office with its own location name – Testalinda, B.C.
