Three people were killed in a crash overnight that closed down the Okanagan Connector, east of Merritt.
Sgt. Mike Pears of Central Interior Traffic Services says the crash happened last night about 8:45 – six kilometres east of Merritt
A west bound U-Haul moving van with three occupants collided with the rear of a commercial vehicle transporting crushed cars.
One female and two male occupants of the U-Haul (van) were declared deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the 2nd vehicle (transport truck) were uninjured.
The truck was traveling westbound in the slow lane down Hamilton Hill, about one km west of the Hamilton Hill brake check.
Visibility was good at the time, and the road was bare and dry. The trailer lights of the transport truck were working and on at the time.
The victims have not yet been identified.
