Director Terry Schafer proposed a notice of motion today at a Penticton RDOS meeting:
“That staff be directed to apply for tenure on the present hike and bike path from Road 22 to MacAlpine Bridge (Oliver) and continue its efforts to secure tenure on the existing KVR land for a future path or transportation corridor.”
Schafer and staff are still working on the wording of any motion coming back to the board in two weeks time but if passed would be a “major departure” from the present initiatives.
Schafer says he will meet with MLA Linda Larson shortly to get her support.
Farmers were adamant last Tuesday that the KVR is an inappropriate place for a tourism pathway through orchard land south of Road 6.

West Bench currently holds 255 thousand Imperial Gallons in storage. It serves 352 properties and 72 acres of irrigated land.
The system is supplied with water by the City of Penticton but managed by the RDOS.
