Penticton RCMP are again reminding parents and those using the School zones within the community, of the new parking and stopping regulations. Members are actively attempting to educate parents and the motoring public to be aware of several new regulations surrounding certain schools within the districts. Currently, Penticton members have been somewhat lenient in regards to the new regulations but unfortunately many motorists are still refusing to obey the new posted signs. These new regulations have been incorporated for the safety of children and pedestrians using the area. In efforts to step up education, members are increasing enforcement action in those areas.
During this mornings patrols regarding safety in the school zones, a 35 year old Penticton resident was found stopped in a cross walk area. The subsequent investigation resulted in the male being detained for impaired driving and received a 90 day prohibition from driving, and his vehicle was seized.
The Penticton RCMP reminds motorists that regulations, signage and posted limits in School zones are for all of the motoring public.
