Captain Craig Ralph, CD
Following a very successful cadet career with a glider and pilot’s licence earned through the Air Cadet Program, Captain Ralph was employed as Civilian Instructor for two years with 259 Squadron in Penticton and then was enrolled in the CIC in 1989. He was employed at the Regional Gliding School from 1989 to 1991. During this employment he earned the Flight Safety “Good Show” award for landing a glider with complete aileron failure.
In 1991, Captain Ralph moved to Penticton as the Administration Officer and over the course of the next four years he served in most staff positions in the squadron. In 1995 he was promoted to Captain and became the Commanding Officer of the Squadron. In 2007 he moved to Westbank and was appointed Commanding Officer until 2012. During this time he helped 909 Peregrine Squadron form and train one of the best biathlon teams in Canada.
In 2013 Captain Ralph was appointed as Commanding Officer of 232 Bighorn Squadron in Oliver and has grown that Squadron substantially through hard work and by fostering a strong relationship with the Sponsoring Committee and the Community.
Captain Ralph is totally committed to the Air Cadet Program and has a leadership style based on letting the cadets know that the staff is there to help them get the most out of the Training Program. Consequently, the parent/staff/SSC relationship has never been better in the opinion of the SSC Chair and the Okanagan Wing Chair. Captain Ralph teaches ground school as well as organizes field trips and other option and social activities, but does it in a manner that encourages maximum parent and cadet participation.
Captain Ralph’s longstanding dedication and extraordinary service rendered to the BC Air Cadet Program is recognized and acknowledged by this Certificate of Recognition.
