Obituary for the late Jose Francisco Chora   1932 – 2015

On Thursday October 1, 2015, Mr. Jose Francisco Chora of Oliver passed away suddenly at his home at the age of 82 years; he is predeceased by his son Joey. Jose leaves behind his wife Maria of fifty six years, brother Tony, three children Ken, Manuel and Glen, and grandchildren Ryan, Kevin, Bryce, Kyle, Avery and Courtney. Jose immigrated to Canada from Portugal in1956, and came to Oliver where he worked for local orchardists. In his first year in Canada, he worked for the CPR Railway but his love for farming brought him back to Oliver where he continued to work at various vineyards and orchards until he purchased his own orchard in  1972. He continued to farm until he retired in 1990.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday October 10th, 2015 at Christ The King Parish Church with a reception to follow. Graveside interment and committal will be held at 4:00 P.M. at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.
