Judge says: “No doubt Mr. Roberts will suffer the wrath of public scorn for a very long time to come.”
Summerland businessman Joshua Roberts has been sentenced to six months in jail by Judge Greg Koturbash in a Penticton courtroom. Roberts, 39, received the sentence after pleading guilty to a count of sexual exploitation.
The plea stems from a relationship he had with a teenage girl between Sept. 15, 2012, and Aug. 15, 2013.
Roberts engaged in a sexual relationship with the 17-year-old in a location that both worked at.
The victim is not being identified.
In her victim impact statement, the teen said she was robbed of the last years of her childhood.
Roberts is to have no contact with the victim and may reside at a Summerland residence on his release.
