Osoyoos Coyotes join local kids on the ice. Coyotes player Evan Loura joined Victoria for a skate at the Oliver Arena for the ‘Lace em Up’ session on Sunday. This has been the biggest turn out since the program star
Yesterday South Okanagan Minor Hockey hosted a ‘Lace Em Up’ session for kids to come out and try hockey at no cost in both Osoyoos and Oliver. This was the largest turn out by far for this event. I was able to go out on the ice with some of these youngsters and they had a great time. An amazing thing happened while we were there – some of the players from the Osoyoos Coyotes came out to help out and I think they should be recognized for this. They gave up a couple hours of their time to these kids and it was very touching.
Victoria, is 3 years old and watched a hockey game on TV on Saturday. She then turned to her parents and told them that she wanted to play hockey. They went out and got her a pair of skates and a helmet yesterday. Victoria went to the Osoyoos session and loved it so much, she convinced her parents to drive to Oliver for the other event. In the picture, you can see her smile as she got a one-on-one skating lesson from Evan.
