This is a picture of the Stockman’s Assoc. meeting building at Meyers Flat ( Willowbrook ) maybe in the 1940’s or earlier. It is situated on the corner of White Lake and Green Lake Road. It later became a one room school for the children in this area.
With a lot of work, Henry and Margaret Anderson converted it into their home in 1951. They lived here for sixty years farming the land across the road and it still remains in the family. Note that the men are gathered around the cars in their white shirts and jackets.
If anyone has more information about this building or Meyers Flat at this time it would be interesting information. I know it was a community “holding” land for herding and gathering cattle. In the fifties, I remember a very large herd of sheep being driven by the house.
I believe it was the main road through to Penticton from Oliver in the 30’s or earlier. Henry Anderson claimed there was a lot of Mac apples grown here and they were taken from here to Naramata to be shipped – horse and buggy?? They had good colour because it was higher in elevation. There were still old apple trees in this area in the 50’s.
