Supporters of Roxanne Louie say they will gather this month to raise awareness for the fight for justice for the young woman and all missing and murdered First Nations women.
A Ride for Justice is slated for Sept. 21 and there will be a camp for riders and their horses at the Penticton Indian Band ball park.
“It’s a ride to ensure that justice prevails in regards to the trial, and we also want to raise awareness for all missing women in Canada,” said Dan Wilson, Louie’s uncle and a member of the Okanagan Indian Band.
Louie, a 26-year-old single mother, was reported missing in early January after failing to show up at Penticton Regional Airport for a flight back to Vancouver.
A search ended with the discovery of her body in the Naramata-Chute Lake area.
Grace Robotti and brother Pier Robotti charged with second-degree murder – both out on bail.
Their next court date in the case is September 21. Monday.
Louie’s family members and friends are inviting everyone to come out and be a part of the ride or join them at the Penticton Courthouse for support.
The ride departs at 8 a.m. from a Penticton Indian Band location and will travel through the city to the courthouse.
