World Neighbours Canada (WNC), based in Oliver, is very pleased to announce that the Executive Director of Tamakoshi Service Society (TSS) is once again coming to Oliver. Suresh Shrestha is in BC to receive the 2015 International Leadership Award that was recently awarded to TSS for their work in rural Nepal. WNC and TSS have been working together for over 25 years to help villagers install gravity fed water systems and hygienic toilets
Suresh will be speaking at Christ the King Catholic Church, in the lower hall, at 7 pm on Wednesday, Sept 23. He will update all those interested on the latest water and sanitation project, and on the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck Nepal earlier this year. The area that Suresh works, called Ramechhap, was at the epicentre of one of the 4 major earthquakes and the damage to houses and buildings was remarkable. Approximately 90% of houses were made inhabitable with just a month to go before the monsoon rains.
The presentation is open to the public and is free of charge. We hope to see you there.
