The controlled burn started in midday from Reed Creek south to Tinhorn Creek with increased smoke visible and open flame from the Testalinda Fire.
In the southern end of the fire, crews continue to extinguish hotspots and patrol the fire perimeter.
In the North Division, crews will be participating in today’s scheduled controlled burn. They will also continue to construct hand guard, run hose lay, install and test water delivery system along the Reed to Tinhorn guard, and mop up the Reed Creek Ridge excursion area. There will be some hand lighting along established guards.
In the vicinity of Hester Creek, there will be some burning out along a hand line and mopping up from Hester Creek valley bottom progressing up the Hester Tinhorn Ridge.
The crews are being supported by hei-bucketing operations.
The Structure Protection is still in place.
Night operations are continuing tonight. They will be patrolling the monitoring the Reed Tinhorn guard.
An area closure remains in affect over the Testalinda fire. The public, including hunters, are asked to respect this area restriction to ensure everyone’s safety.
Public and crew safety is the highest priority of the BC Wildfire Service.
