I have described it as spectacular. It is not yet complete but bears some explanation. It is the new offices of the Osoyoos Indian Band on McKinney Rd. The architect design calls for one of its main features to represent the ceremonial hat of “plateau native women”.
This feature is huge and will house an area for 200 people says Chief Clarence Louie as he toured me through the complex which could open prior to December but there is much to do.

Seen above Mitch Anderson (black hat) – Tony Baptiste with Chief Louie on inspection tour. The building uses a lot of large poles ( stripped tree ). Chief Louie informed that all of these will be stained both inside and out by the contractor Greyback Construction. The tour showed the main offices for staff, large circular council chambers and reception area. Because of ongoing construction we were not able to see how the “hat” was being finished.
It looked small during the tour as in many houses under construction – you don’t see the dimension of it until complete.
