August 14 – lightning and wind – starting the big story of the summer and likely 2015 as far as Oliver is concerned.

These three pictures are very current –

1. South of Reed Creek (Fairview) getting to the smoke a difficult task

I think we all know how lucky we are with how this turned out. Rain and cooler temperatures prevailing to put a curb on this 4000 + hectare forest fire that forced people out of their homes and caused some scary times. Luckily the damage minimal in comparison to more serious situations in the province.

It did however bring out the best in people. Thanks to all volunteers, fire fighters and Ministry of Forest staff.
