One Self-centered Life
Recently I submitted an article by J. Francis called, “One Solitary Life”, namely the life of Christ. Picture the contrast in the following.
Imagine yourself as the sole owner of a huge manufacturing business. You were the only founder and builder of the company. Every employee was valued and placed according to ability where she/he could have success. Each person was provided with the opportunity to establish a home and family where you provided the infrastructure, services and amenities to meet needs and to provide for enjoyment. The benefits they had were marvelous. You personally were committed to their well-being.
Imagine your reaction if I, as an employee, decided to ignore your instructions for the job and to build whatever I felt like doing. How would you feel if I used everything you had provided for my personal benefit and then complained if it wasn’t the way I wanted it? What would your reaction be if I said that you had no right to criticize my actions because, after all, I was getting along OK with the rest of the employees? What would you say if I stated that you had no right to tell me what to do because I don’t believe you made all this? It just came about by itself. You are pretending to be the owner. I am in this for me.
Might it be that in my pursuit of what’s interesting for me I’ll find ‘me’ not interesting, and worse, expendable?
This is how many treat the Creator of our universe and yet He still says, “I love you.” He really does care for you. John 10:10 “I have come that you may have life and have it to the full.”
