RDOS briefs
1. Directors okayed $35,000 from reserves to be spent on emergency repairs at Oliver’s Arena.
Pipes containing brine were detected as leaking and need to be fixed on a temporary basis to get through the winter ice season. No bidding. Sole source contractor CIMCO Refrigeration.
2. RDOS decision makers approved two motions for South Okanagan areas – Contractor hired at a price of $47.5 thousand to do an Area D (OK Falls/Kaleden/Apex) governance study. Winning bid Leftside Partners.
Directors gave final approval to extend lease to Home Hardware in Osoyoos for its use of a Main Street building set to be a Museum after 2020.
3. On the fire scene many motions to senior government and thank-yous to fire fighters. Councillor Judy Sentes of Penticton asked the Board Chair to write in support of statements made by provincial politicians about drones and careless use of cigerettes. The letter idea received total support.
4. Declaration of States of Emergency in Area A and B confirmed today in accordance with the law.
The Testalinda Fire is threatening land in the Similkameen (B) and has done lots of damage in the Richter Pass area (A). Motion carried.
