The Ministry of Environment, in conjunction with the Interior Health Authority, has issued a Smoky Skies Advisory for South Okanagan areas, due to nearby wildfires.
Smoke from the Testalinda and Wilsons Mountain fires are the main contributors to the poor air conditions.
Penticton is getting the worst of the smoke this afternoon due to wind patterns, according to Tarek Ayache, air quality meteorologist with the Ministry of Environment.
The ministry recommends avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during periods of smoky skies.
The advisory states exposure to the smoke is of particular concern for infants and the elderly who have lung or heart conditions.
