John Jesus

April 17, 1939 – August 9, 2015

On Sunday August 9th, 2015, John (Joáo) Manuel Jesus of Oliver passed away at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 76 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Antonio & Almerinda Jesus Matos.

John will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife Rosa Jesus; children Joe (Allison) Jesus, Rose (Stan) Marshall, Grace (Dave) Harfman and Frank (Sharon) Jesus; grandchildren Savannah, Courtney, Cienna, Alex, Max, Ellie, Rheanna, Amelia, Brooke and Olivia; sisters Lourdes (Norberto) Cabral, Ana-Isabel (Adelino) Sá; brother Luis (Carmen) Jesus as well a large extended family of brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many great friends.

John worked as a farm labourer in various vineyards and farms in Oliver and was the owner of “Jesus’s Drive-In”.

Over the years John enjoyed many trips to Portugal to spend time with his three siblings as well as trips to Mexico where he found his love of “Tequila”.

John was very active in the parish of Christ the King, caretaking and serving and was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. He also greatly enjoyed fishing and puttering in his garden.

Prayers will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Thursday August 13, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church.

A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Neil Lustado at 11:00 A.M. Friday August 14, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment and committal will follow at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery. A reception hosted by the CWL in the lower church hall will follow the interment.
