A retired British Columbia sheriff caught a thief in Penticton with stolen shrimp.
Last Friday employees at the IGA Grocery on Government Street in Penticton called the RCMP with a report of a man shoplifting.
Two store employees attempted to stop the man before he left the store. The man was able to free himself and run away on foot but a customer chased after the thief.
RCMP then received a report of a fight near the IGA, which turned out to be the retired sheriff and the man with the shrimp.
Four bags of frozen shrimp, valued at $80, were found in the man’s bag.
Bryan Murray, 32, was charged with theft under $5000.
