The Town of Oliver has worked towards providing information and education for water conservation.
As a contributing partner in the ‘Make Water Work’ campaign with the Okanagan Basin Water Board, the town was crowned as champions in 2014 in the Waterwise Program.
While the award was given and domestic water use was down in 2014 – the Oliver area consumes more water when a comparison is made with an average Okanagan resident.
One fact is very evident – for every gallon of domestic well water used – 10 gallons are used to irrigate land used to grow – fruit, grapes, ground crops, nurseries etc.
