Police continue to look for thieves after several businesses in two Okanagan communities were rammed by vehicles.
Police say they are making some headway in the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for a smash and enter at Tickleberry’s Ice Cream Shop in Okanagan Falls early Monday.
Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police discovered the suspect vehicle being driven in the Keremeos area overnight Monday. The Ford Explorer rammed a police car before the driver fled on foot.
The ice cream shop suffered heavy damage after the SUV drove through an exterior wall in an attempt to get to two safes in the business. The business however carried on with its doors open to the public.
“At 4:20am August 3rd two men pulled into our back parking lot – scouted the building – tried to crowbar into the back and then drove around to the side of giftshop and rammed the wall with the back of their SUV 3 times and broke into our building – the back window of the vehicle was fully blown out.” Facebook posting on Tickleberry’s page.
The driver continues to be at large with police searching for more evidence.
Four businesses in Summerland were damaged in a similar way over the weekend.
