Had to send out a few emails within the last 24 hours to people who believe they have the right to comment with no respect for anyone else, the authorities and this publication.
I admit it’s a control issue. 99% of comments are allowed. 99% percent of comments are fair and some express an opinion different than the publisher or others that comment.
1% challenge or are challenging – journalistic standards, their perceptions of what the news is, news gathering techniques and at the same time – they want to not be identified.
ODN has a great relationship with the local and regional RCMP – that is not insider information. That is hard work developing relationships that produce trust and result.
The daily news has become as popular as it is because of two things – readers generally agree what they see here is as accurate as it can be and that the owner is fair. News often cannot wait until everything is confirmed. Not the nature of the beast.
Maybe I am delusional and that can be debated at another time.
