Kelowna – Kelowna RCMP would like to thank the Kelowna Fire Department for their assistance on Okanagan Lake.
On July 19, 2015 at 9:58 pm, the Kelowna RCMP received a report that an intoxicated 19-year-old Kelowna female had gone running into Okanagan Lake. Two local Mounties attempted to rescue the 19-year-old female. The RCMP members tried to corral the female and bring her back to shore when an altercation occurred. The intoxicated female became combative with the Police officers.
The Kelowna RCMP members who were exhausted clung to a swimming buoy and were picked up by the Kelowna Fire Department. The Police officers were transported to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment and released.
The 19-year-old female returned to shore and was subsequently taken into custody. The female could potentially face criminal charges.
The Kelowna RCMP would again like to thank the Kelowna Fire Department for picking up our exhausted members.
