Six officer involved shootings now under investigation by the IIO since April 1, 2015 including 4 deaths.

* April 9 – VPD (death)
* May 13 – Burnaby (serious harm)
* July 3 –  Salmon Arm (serious harm)
* July 8 – Port Hardy (death)
* July 16 – Dawson Creek (death)
* July 18 – Surrey (death)

In the 2013-14 fiscal year there were five officer-involved shootings, while in 2014-15 there were 11.

The Vancouver Police Department reviewed the recommendations of two Ontario-based studies that looked at use of force when dealing with people who have mental illness – recommendations include buying 200 Tasers and providing more mental health training to officers likely to come into contact with people in crisis.
