“We went down to the river to identify potential hazard areas where people may become entrapped in downed trees (strainers). With the river at its current level (low) it allowed us to safely enter into areas of the river to see what the potential dangers are and what we can do to safely work in those areas if needed.”
“As for our river clean up as we made our way down the river we started to come across lots of abandoned (flat) tubes and floaties that people have just left there. So we took it upon ourselves to collect a few of these as we went along. It wasn’t our reason for being there, but we felt that we should keep our river clean”. – Rob Graham – Oliver Volunteer Fire Department
“The group of Oliver firemen that took part Thursday in their ‘River Rescue Pre-planning Hazard Assessment’ ended up at our place later with a plastic boat load of debris/ garbage they took it upon themselves to remove from the river. I can’t thank them enough. Well done guys.” Terry Schafer RDOS Director
