I have lived in Oliver for a couple of decades now, having moved here at the beginning of high school with my family. Like many teenagers, I often complained about a lack of things to do here, and couldn’t wait to move on to bigger and better things.

Eventually I did move away – several times in fact. For one reason or another, I always ended up back here.

This last weekend I attended the Sunshine Festival, one of many local events that is getting bigger each year. It was such a great time. Witnessing the community come together to celebrate summer, local musicians and each other, was a humbling experience for me. I realized how proud I am to live in Oliver, and how much the community means to me.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and other events that make Oliver the wonderful place that it is. We are so lucky to live in this gem of the desert!!!
