Stantec wins Osoyoos parks and trails contract
The second-highest bidder out of seven has been awarded the contract to create a master plan for the Osoyoos parks and trails system.
Stantec, from Vancouver, was selected on the basis of a six-criteria scoring system, in which it finished 10 points ahead of its nearest rival bid with 79 out of 100.
Stantec’s bid of $35,899 was lower than only one other and about $7,000 higer than the low bidder, Recresynthesis Consulting from Kelowna, which scored just 34 out of 100.
Director of planning Alain Cunningham assured council that there is no requirement that the town accept the lowest bidder in a request for proposals.
The RFP received responses from companies based in Vancouver, Billings, Mont., Kelowna and Osoyoos.
An adminsitration report to council said the master plan will be prepared with input from a “local stakeholder charrette process and subsequent open house” and then presented to council for adoption as part of the overall Officlal Community Plan.
