Office in downtown Vernon destroyed

A large one storey commercial building in the 2600 block of 48th Avenue in Vernon has been destroyed by fire.

The fire started around 6:30 Tuesday evening. Fire crews and police responded.

RCMP blocked 48th Avenue in front of the building, causing traffic tie ups.

The building housed the Social Assistance office for the North Okanagan
