As a direct result of the recent major roadchecks in and around Penticton, South Okanagan Traffic Services learned of the presence of a 49 year old male in the South Okanagan wanted on a Canada wide warrant on a charge of sexually assaulting a young child.
On June 20th an uninsured vehicle was checked at a roadcheck by a South Okanagan Traffic Services member. As a result of this check, South Okanagan Traffic Services conducted a four day investigation. This investigation included surveillance and other investigative techniques. The investigation led to the location of the male in a rural area between Oliver and Osoyoos.
On June 24th at 7:40 p.m , with the assistance of Osoyoos Detachment members, South Okanagan Traffic Services members arrested the male without incident on the outstanding warrant. He is being transported back to Calgary, Alberta for court.
This is the fifth warrant executed as a result of the roadchecks this past weekend.
South Okanagan Traffic Services would like to thank the public for their support in making our roads and communities safer for everyone. Not only law abiding citizens travel on our roads but also criminals who use our roads to transport drugs, stolen property and themselves.
