9.45pm just before the crescent moon was setting in the west, along side the moon was Venus and a little fainter, Jupiter. Tonight the moon will be closer to Jupiter, so will take another picture this evening. no special settings on the camera, just the auto mode on your camera should work fine if you want to try this.
Towards the end of June, Jupiter and Venus will appear closer in the sky as they orbit around the sun. Sunday June 21 is Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year after which the days will start to shorten, sorry folks, summer is nearly over.
