Actually it’s the Women’s Network of the BC Liberal Party.
A local group met today at Silver Sage to hear Attorney General Suzanne Anton using the opportunity to explain some of the issues facing all of us:
1. Okanagan Correction Centre – visits will be allowd after construction is substantially complete and prior to occupation by inmates. MLA Linda Larson on that committee working toward that goal in late 2016.
Anton says many requests from tax-payers to see a new facility.
2. Women in need – the Minister proud of a number of recent initiatives allowing those on welfare to go to school and those earning some income not having regular subsidies rolled back. Anton says we all must stop the roadblocks to progress.
3. Performance of our education system – 3rd in the world – a story not told.
Anton said the thrust of the Women’s Network is to get more females in politics. She said it starts with a person driven to do something. As a soccer mom, Anton noticed that there was not enough soccer pitches in Vancouver and elected first to the Parks Board. She liked politics alot and now in one of the top jobs in BC.
Yes her audience today had some men but just a handful. About 50 people attended the special event.
