The South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce held a lunch Thursday afternoon during which time chamber members had an opportunity to lunch with BC Premier Christy Clark, was well as a number of cabinet ministers. The lunch was held at Silver Sage Winery in Oliver.
“Small businesses represent a bigger part of the economy here in British Columbia than anywhere else in the country,” Clark told the crowd of approximately 40. “British Columbia can lead Canada – not just in growth, but in ideas.”
Clark also spoke about cutting red tape for business owners, supporting single parents in their efforts to re-enter the workforce and about the diversity of the BC economy.
“It is not government that built British Columbia… It is ordinary people who go out there everyday and make a difference,” Clark said. “And in government we can never, ever forget that.”
Boundary-Similkameen MLA Linda Larson told the crowd that, as Premier, Clark has focused on:
◾growing BC’s strong, diverse economy,
◾empowering British Columbians to build the lives they want,
◾and ensuring we pass on our province to future generations as magnificent as we found it.
