Many students have demonstrated commitment and talent in the performing and visual arts. We would now like to recognize our top Fine Arts students.
Fine Arts category – top drama students. Would Mikayla Podmorow, Gavin Buttar and Tony Abellan please come forward. These exceptionally talented students show commitment, dedication and skill.
Tony is an outstanding young actor. He takes the responsibility of creating characters very seriously. He is very talented and hard-working. Tony’s roles in the Remembrance Day Play, Christmas and especially High School Musical were all very well thought out and believable. Tony is a pleasure to work with as he brings a very professional quality to the work that he does.
Back in September, when the choice of musicals was still being deliberated, this dedicated student stepped up to help make the choice. She continued throughout the production to work extremely diligently. Her attention to the details of the show were so helpful in putting the production together. Not only was she outstanding in her role, but she understudied practically every role by knowing others lines and movements. She helped others to be the best they could be. Her effort, hard-work and over-all outstanding effort made the production truly awesome.
The All-Around Theatre student this year is Mikayla Podmorow. The Sr. Actor Award goes to Gavin Buttar. Gavin loves to act! He is always ready to work hard in rehearsal and literally loves being there. He thinks through every action and detail. He is an awesome role model to others and is always ready to help others. Gavin’s energy and commitment are always apparent on stage.
Would Maxine Houle and Mathew Pottinger please come forward. Maxine is a talented grade 9 Musical Futures student. She has a beautiful, clear voice and also plays the guitar and piano. The top Senior Music student goes to Mathew Pottinger. Mathew is a grade 10 Band and Musical Futures student. He plays bass guitar in many different styles and can always be depended on to provide a solid foundation for the band. Congratulations Maxine and Matthew.
