I have just found out that my SmartMeter was installed in May. I phoned Fortis today to ask them to turn my SmartMeter into a RADIO OFF unit. No problem.

$88 to change it over and then ….

$18 per 2 month billing cycle for ever …. to pay for someone to come and do a manual read.

The $18 charge will come into effect next year, once they have done all the installations. As of this month Fortis is still doing manual reads.
