Arthur Richard Pentney
September 5, 1921 – June 8, 2015
Richard passed away peacefully in Oliver on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the age of 93.
Predeceased by his wife Frieda in 2001; lovingly remembered by sons, Alan (Tara) of Calgary, Alberta; Bruce (Barbara) of Brandon, Manitoba and Ross (Cindy) of Barrhead, Alberta; grandchildren, Julie (Paul) and Richard (Jacquie) of Brandon; Alana (Richard) of Toronto and Jon (Natalie) of Calgary; great-grandchildren, Paige, Dannnah, Cade, Madeleine, Cohen and Mayson. Predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Richard was raised in the Lake of the Woods region in Ontario and following his service as a Chief Petty officer in the Canadian Navy he brought his bride Frieda (Hapke) from Oliver back to the Lake where they ran a commercial fishery, a tourist resort and happily raised a family.
He attended Queen’s University and went on to become a tax assessor for the Ontario Government and then eventually retired to Oliver where he enjoyed many cribbage games with his friends. He volunteered as an income tax preparer and was a member of the Kiwanis here.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 2015 at 10 o’clock from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 412 Skagit Avenue, Oliver.
