Dozens of area women will be taking their best shot this summer as part of a $150,000 commitment to help equip the Patient Care Tower at Penticton Regional Hospital. The 19th annual Peach City Tees Up For Cancer ladies charity golf tournament will be held August 14 and 15 at the Penticton Golf and Country Club. Tourney organizers have pledged to donate $150,000 over five years to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation campaign. The Foundation must raise $20 million for medical equipment in the new PRH tower which sees construction due to begin in early 2016.
Peggy Guest, chair of the tournament organizing committee, said Tees Up for Cancer began in 1997 by raising more than $10,000 for the PRH Oncology Department. Guest is confident Tees Up can achieve its latest goal, noting the 2014 tournament raised more than $32,000.

“Everyone knew the tower was in the planning stages,” she said. “So we decided at our first meeting this year, not only would we raise money for the tower, but we’d commit to raising $150,000 over five years.”
“We have a lot of faith in the ladies that are interested in golfing in this,” Guest said. “They’re there to have a really good time, but they also know it’s for a serious issue and we get a lot of support from them.”
Guest said up to 30 teams of four are expected to register for the best-ball scramble event, with a strong emphasis on fun.
