Tom Siddon, Area D Director:
We we have received the $50,000 to get this study underway. Initial meetings were held earlier this week with about 40 residents who are leaders in 6 – 8 representative groups in Area ‘D’ (such as the APC, Fire Depts and Irrigation Districts, small business, major land owners and employers, etc. )
This study of governance options for the future will start by looking at all of Area ‘D’. The study will be guided by a small citizens study committee who will be appointed by the RDOS Board shortly, and will be guided by Terms of Reference provided by the Ministry. The study committee will work with RDOS to prepare a proposal call and select a consultant with the right skill set for this project.
There are no pre-conceived biases for this study, and the question of incorporation for Okanagan Falls IS NOT on the table at this time.
