All the paperwork on leases and rules of engagement for the Frank Venables Theatre were passed Thursday at an RDOS meeting in Penticton. School District 53 has leased the Theatre to the RDOS who has turned over management to the Theatre Society.
Much debate yesterday on starting an Economic Development Regional Service with an explanation that this is not to compete with other such programs in the region but to fund one-off proposals approved by the board.
Some directors indicated that they did not want a $100 thousand slush fund but staff explained that is an upper limit – and all expenditures and budgets with full consent of board members.
The only item now approved is a $30,000 grant to the Okanagan Film Commission. The complicated procedure of establishing such a service will take months with final approval from the Government of BC.
The initial decision passed muster twice at committee and general meeting returning again June 18th.
